Entryway Mosaic Bench

This project was a fun one to tackle, as it was a bit more freeform and artistic than some of my other jobs. I think it is important for a piece to not only have excellent function, but also a beautiful form. In this case I achieved that by crafting a hardwood mosaic out of leftover bits from other past projects - walnut from our bedframe, purple heart from a wedding crucifix, and honey locust that I milled myself, to name a few. Overall, I think it makes quite the statement as you enter our mudroom, and it definitely helps our kiddos and my ever-pregnant wife get their shoes on before heading out the door!
