Dancing Winder Staircase
Who knew a simple staircase could be such an opportunity for beauty, order, and an intriguing design? This stairway from my workshop to the lumber loft above is built using a method called the Dancing Winder or the Balanced Winder. Each tread is the same depth along the walking line (where your feet naturally land while using the stairs), effortlessly guiding you around the turn almost without you even realizing it while you are ascending or descending the stairs. It is so satisfying to make even the most practical elements of my workshop beautiful with intentional craftsmanship.
